Slow, Heavy and Blue<\/i> was originally created in February 1980 for the Ballet de l\u00b4Opera de Paris and was part of GRTOP’s repertoire from November 1981 (Paris Opera’s young experimental group led by Carolyn Carlson for a number of years). The piece was incorporated into the Cullberg Ballet’s repertoire in 1995. Carolyn Carlson’s choreographic work is poetic and lyrical with an unmistakably magical quality. Slow, Heavy and Blue<\/i> is a meditative piece for nine dancers and, according to Carolyn Carlson, is just as slow, heavy and \u2018blue\u2019 as the following lines reveal:<\/p>\n
The sun died SLOW
\nthe earth went HEAVY
\nand the rain fell BLUE<\/p>\n
