“Explaining ones own ballet is a most dangerous endeavor. Allow me to define. There are certainly two ways to approach choreography: one intellectual and rational, and another, more intuitive. In the matter of Night Shadow, I think I used the latter approach. Night Shadow is about violence and aggression, but also about what triggers this violence. I have used a specific decor to enclose the choreography itself, to inscribe the ballet in a confined room with insurmountable limits. The music reflects this decor: itsrepetition traps the dancers in a system and forces them to react viscerally, to catch it or to push it away. “
