Flykt (Flight)

Flykt (Flight) is a piece that moves in an inner space, a landscape. The place and landscape are clear, but who populates it? That is decided in the moment of creation, in the generosity between the Cullberg Ballet dancers and myself. The title Flykt (Flight) is the reference point from which the creation takes place. I never try to completely determine a meaning or narrative for a piece.

Rather, the whole process is more about searching and locating. Flykt (Flight) is like the colors of the night, with myriad shadows and shapes not clearly definable. It therefore has multiple meanings – to flee, to seek refuge, an action linked to fear, to obligation and to death. There are those who eschew and abscond. There are those who are tangible, concrete and reliable. There are those who flee and those who stay. “
