VARA

VARA, a full length performance specially composed for Cullberg Ballet by choreographer by Ohad Naharin, was constituted by excerpts from the worksZachacha, Anaphase, Black Milk, Queens of Golub, Mabul and Sabotage Baby.

Ohad Narahin, a choreographer and, at the time, artistic director of the Batsheva Dance Company in Tel Aviv, is known to only rarely choreograph completely new works for companies other than Batsheva. Nevertheless, these tailored collage works comprised of parts of other whole works coupled with the meeting with new dancers, creates something unique.

“There are performances that make you happy, in the sense that you leave the theater with with a lightness to your step and restored faith in both art and life. The Cullberg Ballet’s Vara is one such performance. Lucky are those who get to experience it.”
