Renowned Swedish theater director Linus Tunström is no stranger to the world of dance and performance. Already in 1996 he was commissioned to create his first dance piece for the Cullberg Ballet titled Över bord (Over Board).
Dödsbo (2005) was his second work for the company and had as its thematic undercurrent our human contempt for weakness, for the other and for ourselves. In Swedish the name Dödsbo could be translated as death house, or house of death. It refers to an apartment or home vacated after the death of its occupant. Ulla Kassius, a long time collaborator of Tunströms, created the set and costume design which evoked a small, vacated mid century Swedish apartment.
Rikard Borggård, composer and at the time artistic director of Teater Giljotin in Stockholm, composed the music.
